November 15, 2017 by Borgy Leave a Comment

Filipinos are known for our unique traditional clothing and good taste in terms of modern clothing. From tops to dresses, Filipinos would never go out of style!

As a matter of fact, there are many local brands that showcased their creativity and entered into clothing business successfully. Stylish shirts, fashionable dresses – name it, and you can definitely find it!

If you need help in deciding which clothing or boutique franchise you should get, this post might enlighten you! Continue reading to know what the five popular brands have to offer.

Bench

Bench is a boutique which can easily be found in almost every shopping mall in the Philippines. The company is generally known for the towels and fragrances they sell, and the great quality shirts that can be worn at home or outdoors.

Bench was established early in 1987 as a retail store that sells t-shirts for men. The company was able to survive through the years despite the rising of various competitors. Up to this day, Bench is still an active player and has a number of branches all over the country.

Unfortunately, there isn’t any available information regarding the investment costs and franchise fee of Bench.  Therefore, anyone who intends to get a franchise from the company must contact the management themselves.

Given the fact that Bench has been on the industry for a long time, the consumers have already proven the quality of the products that Bench sell which is a good advantage because the customers have confidence with the items the company produces.

Penshoppe

If you have visited a number of shopping malls in the country, you probably know that the Penshoppe boutique is always near Bench. The two boutiques are known as each other’s main competitor.

Penshoppe was established in 1986 by a young CEO Bernie Liu with his companions in Cebu City. The company’s main goal is to cater the clothing needs of the teenagers and millennials. The company became a huge success and had later on expanded their business all over the Philippines.

The cost of franchising is not disclosed to the public, but according to some sources the cost is said to be ranging from P8M to P10M which includes all the necessary requirements in starting up the business.

Since the brand is very popular among the millenials, the business has a guarantee of high number of sales which is a great advantage for an aspiring franchisee.

Folded & Hung

Folded & Hung has a great impression to the public as a brand that sells trendy and elegant apparel.

It is a company that came from Pinoy pride and was established back in 1998 to create clothing specifically for clubbing, but later on experimented by creating other clothing that is suitable for parties, runway and streetwear.

The total amount of investment for a Folded & Hung store is about P3.5M, which depends on the size of the store and the renting cost. Despite the huge amount, it has already a lot of inclusions such as hands-on training program, marketing and advertising support, operations system and manual, site selection assistance, store design and layout assistance

The primary advantage of franchising Folded & Hung is the reputation the company had established over the years. However, the only downfall is that the brand awareness is slightly low compared to its competitors. But nevertheless, the brand can very well compete if good quality products will be taken into consideration.

Le Tanneur

Le Tanneur is a brand that speaks of elegance and luxury, hence the brand name. Just by mentioning its name, it can already be concluded that the boutique sells products that are worth its value.

Le Tanneur began its journey in early 1898 and was known for selling luxurious bags made from leather and luggage for both genders. The company opened their doors to foreign clients starting in the 90s and offered out of the country deliveries. Due to the quality they produce, the company received good feedback and later on expanded and started franchising to entrepreneurs passionate about the retail business.

The total investment cost for Le Tanneur is € 100,000, inclusive of the franchise fee and the contract which is valid for five years. For franchisees, the required lot size should be a minimum of 90 sqm, preferably located in malls and commercial areas. Also, there is a royalty fee of 2% of gross montly sales.

Because of Le Tanneur’s luxurious products, it easily became a hit and had already established a high class reputation over the past years, which is clearly an advantage. On the contrary, Le Tanneur’s franchising disadvantage is its cost considering that the investment cost is in foreign currency.

TOPS

Among the five clothing and boutique franchises, TOPS may not be the most popular but it is agreeable that the store isn’t left behind in terms of the products they sell. With its low price, many shoppers are attracted easily as the store is also well-known for the guaranteed good quality apparel.

Unlike the others, TOPS isn’t located in high foot traffic areas but rather situated in an obscure location. You’re probably thinking that it caused low brand awareness, but it isn’t true. Despite their unique location, the company sells discounted merchandise that can still maximize their earnings as well.

To franchise TOPS, an investment capital ranging from P800,000 to P1M is required for a 100sqm store. There is also an initial order of merchandise which costs approximately P1.2m, a P300,000 refundable deposit and a royalty fee of 5% of gross sales. Despite of the amount, it is guaranteed value for money as there are a lot of inclusions such as trademarks, operation manual, merchandising guidelines, advertising and marketing support, geographical marketing plan, management training program, staff training program, communication support, opening-day assistance, operations and sales support, system and inventory management support, software, marketing and website exposure, site selection and on-going support by management team.

The only disadvantage by franchising TOPS is the fact that the general public isn’t aware of the brand’s existence, which can easily be solved through various techniques and strategies. Nonetheless, the store will still be profitable because of its competitive prices.
